The PEth test is a highly sensitive biomarker for measuring sustained heavy alcohol consumption. Drinking heavily or intermittent binge drinking leads to an increase in PEth levels. Levels rise soon after alcohol ingestion and can be present for several days giving an indication of chronic alcohol excess.
You can also use this test to assess the effect of abstinence so that you can be reassured that your body is acknowledging the reduction of alcohol consumption.
