Description
This panel of tests can tell you whether you have had exposure of Hepatitis C or not – but is not able to distinguish whether the body has recovered from hepatitis C infection. With regards to hepatitis B, this panels of tests can tell you whether or not you have had exposure to hepatitis B, whether you are vaccinated, have ongoing infection or recovered from hepatitis B infection.
Note that both hepatitis B and C have long incubation periods – weeks to months. Therefore, an adequate period of time needs to pass after infection, in order to detect these viruses.
If you are known to have hepatitis B infection and may be on treatment, this panel of tests can be used to assess if you have recovered from the infection or not. Note that this would require interpretation from your doctor.
