Description
- For a DNA test to be valid in a court of law the test must be performed by a professional and a strict chain of custody must be maintained
- This DNA test requires a sample of maternal blood (collected via a standard medical blood sample) and mouth swab samples from the mother and alleged father.
- Geneticists use the very latest scientific methods to extract the baby’s DNA profile from foetal DNA found in the mother’s bloodstream. This profile is then compared with the DNA profile of the alleged father, to identify matching DNA markers
- If the tested man is the biological father of the baby, they will share DNA at every tested marker. If the tested man is not the biological father, there will be significant differences between the DNA of the man and the baby.
ALL SAMPLES ARE TESTED IN THE UK BY A UKAS AND MINISTRY OF JUSTICE ACCREDITED LABORATORY
