You may not want to take this test, but not checking can result is lifelong problems, not least that you may transmit any potential STI to a partner, most STIs have no symptoms. If you do have symptoms they’re likely to present within two weeks from infection. All can take a while to become detectable.
If you’re at risk, you should test. If you’ve recently become sexually active, had unprotected sex or are experiencing typical symptoms like genital discomfort, sores, discharges etc. then it’s vital you detect and rule out sexually transmitted infections to avoid serious long term complications.
Testing for –
Genital Chlamydia – Genital Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria, which can be passed from person to person during vaginal sex, oral sex, or anal sex.
Importantly chlamydia can lie dormant for many years without symptoms so it should be checked if you are at risk.
Genital Gonorrhoea – Genital Gonorrhoea is a sexually transmitted disease caused by bacteria that can be passed through vaginal, oral and anal sexual intercourse.
HIV 1 & 2 – Human Immunodeficiency Virus – HIV – exists as two species of virus which target your immune system. Over time this progressively weakens your immune system leading to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). This reduces your ability to fight disease and infections.
